I have swapped broadband providers and discovered that my btconnect.com email is blocked and I am being told to contact the admin - we don't have one. From doing some searching I suspect the email has been blocked because it was linked to the broadband account. Is there any way we can get access to it again?
Hi Richard2
Our technical team could see if they can assist but yes your btconnect email address is linked to your broadband account so when this is terminated, the mailbox will also be cancelled.
When you cancel your BT broadband, your associated email address is typically linked to the account and will eventually be closed. You are usually given a 60-day grace period to either upgrade to a paid BT Premium email service, which allows you to keep all the features, or downgrade to a free "Basic" email service with limited functionality (web access only). Since you've already swapped providers and your email is blocked, it's likely you have missed this window and the account has been suspended. The "contact the admin" message is a generic one for accounts managed by a service provider. To regain access, your only real option is to contact BT directly and explain the situation. They may be able to reactivate your account, but it's important to be prepared for the possibility that the email address and its contents may be permanently lost. In the future, it is recommended to use a free email service like Gmail or Outlook that is not tied to a specific broadband provider to avoid this issue.
