Switched back to BT but landline number changed

Switched from BT to Vodafone 2 years ago with the same landline number and now switched from Vodafone to BT last week (broadband went live on Thursday) and when buying the package I selected the option to keep the same number. However phone line only went live on Monday after ringing for help so many times but the number has changed when I specifically asked to keep my old number and rang up today (Tuesday) but the agent was absolutely useless by keep answering I don’t know when I told him my current issue. So anyone please me to figure out how to keep the same number when I specifically asked when buying the package or what I can do. Thanks!

No not yet, I haven’t as I work 9-5:30 so I haven’t had a chance to ring at all. I have asked around and this has started when BT didn’t take over from Vodafone even though when I placed the order I said to keep my current landline so expecting BT to take over the working line or port in in which they didn’t and I have expressed this on the phone since the last phone call on Tuesday. Now I’m stuck paying for 2 services 

I did ring on Thursday too but they got confused and updated the new number to my current problem but it’s still not what I asked for in terms of taking over the working line
