2701HGV-C and Vlans

Hi,

We have a 2701HGV-C router supplied by BT which we use to provide guest internet access to a couple of floors of our building.  We now want to expand this to cover all 8 floors in our building.

What i'd like to do is to setup 3 separate vlans (192.168.10.x, 192.168.20.x, 192.168.30.x) with separate internal ip addresses.

Would i be able to set this up directly from the 2701HGV-C ?   Or would i need a separate router or just a managed switch connected to the 2701HGV-c?

Which of this would be the right way:

2701HGV  --> Router  --->  Switch ---> Wireless AP's (all floors)   (where would i create the vlans here? router or switch)

or

2701HGV --> Switch (3 Vlans) ---> Wireless AP's (all floors)

I am fairly new to all this so i am a bit confused.

many thanks in advance for your help

Not really my area of expertise but can give a couple of suggestions/thoughts.

I do not believe it is possible to do what you want in the 2700 but will need to be managed through a suitable managed switch.

Given the size of the task,  why not try to find a local IT consultant/technician, who can tell you what you need in an hour or two.  Then buy and install that, then get the consultant/technician back to set it all up - should be no more than 1/2 day with an hour to give you a quick education and you have just a day of his time.   Yes there is a cost, but how much time will you waste in tryiing to solve it yourself?

I agree with that. You should look for a pro on this type of field and make sure that you will learn something from it.
