Hello, I have called BT regarding this, but the issue seemed a litte too technical for them to understand (like i should have known)...
Basically, we are with sky ADSL broadband, but in the process of upgrading to BT infinity on 25th Febuary.
At the moment we have approx 6 computers connected via ethernet cable. 2 downstairs (sky plus media center box) connected directly to sky router. Then there is an extension ethernet cable in port 3 on sky router which goes upstairs. Connected to this extension cable is another router (a switch, manufactured by PEAK), which then accomodates 2 more PC's an Xbox and a sky multiroom box.
So the question im asking is this - will this 4-port switch work when bt install the BT infinity, or will it be incompatible with the new fibre optic router?
Let me try this if it explains better...
[PHONE SOCKET]---[BT INFINITY FIBRE OPTIC ROUTER]---[4 PORT SWITCH]---[4X ADDITIONAL DEVICES]
I hope this makes sense, and perhaps someone can confirm they have done this themselves?
Thanks in advance.
There's no reason at all that this won't work. Bear in mind though that on Infinity you get two boxes - an Openreach Modem (white box) and a router. Connect the switch to the router, not the modem, and you're done.

As AdrianC says - it will work.
In my case: Modem connects to router. Two direct connections to the router (only to allow diagnostics with current issues); router connected to 24 port Cisco switch; Switch connected to multiple devices including two or three additional WAPs.
Longer term, I would suggest you upgrade the Switch to an 8 or 12 port Gigabit version and connect ALL devices to it. That way ALL of the local traffic stays in te switch and does not go on teh Router to Switch link which is only 100Mbit and if you have a full speed download of say 70Mbit in progress then you could find local traffic limited to the remainder.
