Could someone decipher this please?

Hi,

After several months of getting around 4-5 Meg download speed my connection has suddenly dropped to about 500K

An engineer came round checked the line ( for about 5mins) and said there was nothing wrong, and got my profile reset but my rate was still stuck at 500K.

the next suggestion was that it might be the router, so I changed it to one with much better diagnostics. Is there anything in the results below that might give a clue as to why my rate is so low?

TIA

Guess what still no progress!

What is really upsetting is that no one at BT seems to give a **bleep**.

No-one returns my calls, no one wants to take responsibility.

I still dont understand why they find it so hard to fix. Something used to work, now it doesn't,  I'd go through the chain replacing things sequentially till it works again, but all BT want to do is run a sppedcheck wait 72 hours in the hope in would magically sping into life.

Anyone considering trying to run a business that relies on BT please have back up plans in place!

Hi Martin,

you're quite right - BT don't operate any sort of problem management or time based escalation/alert process to resolve problems. (they just run around in circles)

You can try emailing BT Executive Level Complaints. If I post the email address directly here then the mods will take it down citing it as a spammers opportunity to harvest the address: so string the 3 bolded letters together for the name part of the address and sent to @BT.com

You might get lucky and they might get involved

Thanks,

At the moment I'm trying to escalate it through a couple of contacts I have in the Media and  Broadcast division.

Rather ironically  I've been heavily involved in buying and renting broadcast circuits off BT and never had any issues, so if they can get me a 1.485Gbit/s circuit for HD-SDI I don't see why they are having so much trouble with sending me a couple of megs!

Right good news and bad news..

Great news is that the initial problem seems to have been fixed.  The solution is below.

"BRAS has now been changed to adsl9000. All systems were correct on BTW systems, but BRAS was built as adsl350 on RAS. This has been rectified and BRAS now built at 9meg. Please can you run speed test with your customer to check if throughput now all ok"

bad news and I really don't understand this.. is that its still taking ages to open web pages, 20sec for the BBC news, this is much slower than my 4 meg backup O2 line.

Ive tried different browsers and different DNS servers but still the same result, are there any tests I can run to find where the problem lies?
