Hi There,
In November, in signing up a contract for my business, we were mis-sold certain services. I have spent an insane amount of time on the phone trying to get it sorted and on numerous occasions been told that it had been dealt with and no further action would be taken. I received a reminder regarding the account just the other day - 1 March - stating that there was an outstanding balance still. I called and was again assured that a credit note would be passed with their apologies. I have also been on the phone and managed to get someone to email me a confirmation that this has been done.
My concern is that I have also received a letter from 'Debt Recovery Unit' threatening to pass the debt on to a collection agency. I hope this will not happen now, but it has unfortunately happened before on a bill that was sent to me in error. The problem is that having a bill passed to a debt recovery agency can seriously affect my company's credit rating. I am anxious to know whether this issue - which I must stress is no fault of ours - will have any effect on our credit rating as a company. We work incredibly hard to ensure all creditors are paid timeously so as to maintain a good credit rating and I would hate for something like this to damage that.
Please could somone let me know who I can contact in order to obtain written confirmation that this issue has not had any effect on my credit rating.
Alistair

Hi Tracey,
Thank you for your reply. I have spoken at length to your billing team and they emailed me, under duress, regarding the credit being passed. They said they had nothing to do with the debt recovery unit, hence my trying to find further information here. I am also not sure they fully appreciate the significance as they are not UK based call centre staff. Is there a contact for the debt recovery unit in the UK which sent the letter? I really would like to receive written confirmation to say that there has been no negative effect on my credit rating. I take this matter extremely seriously as it can have far reaching and significant financial consequences.

Hi Alistair,
I do understand that you wish to have it in writing, however we are not able to provide this to you, here on the forum.
If you click on the link I sent in my earlier post then it does have a live chat team who would be able to arrange this for you, rather than talking on the phone.
Thanks
Tracey
