Own domain, HTTPS and short domains

I have set my e-shop up and have pointed it to my own domain. However, when testing it, when I go to checkout, although I can see the HTTPS along with a btowstore url at the bottom, the main address bar is not showing https or a padlock, which makes it look like the site is not secure.

Is there any way around this as I certainly would not buy from a website that did not have a https pre-fix, and neither would, I suspect, plenty of other people.

Also no matter which page of my site I am on, the URL remains the same (www.mydomain.co.uk), however, I was hoping that the URL would reflect which page the customer was on e.g. www.mydomain.co.uk/about-us.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Tracey

The domain name is www.vodaclean-direct.co.uk.

Even though this problem was originally posted back in September, it is still there.

Thanks

Helena

Hey Helena,

Looks like you have frame forwarding set up for your site, which means that the address will always show as www.vodaclean-direct.co.uk.  This is likely to have a detrimental affect on your search engine rankings as they do not like frame forwarding as it effectively hides where you actuall are on a site, as indicated by the lack of https:// when placing orders.

This can be changed by BT, however you should be aware that this will change the homepage address to appear as http://www.vodaclean-direct.co.uk/epages/BT3447.sf/.  Typing in www.vodaclean-direct.co.uk or vodaclean-direct.co.uk will still take you to this page.

The bottom line is frame forwarding is bad!  Have this changed as quickly as possible.

Hope this helps.
