Pay for 6-8meg connection and get 370kpbs

For more than 4 days I have achieved an average download speed of 370kbps  when I should achieve a speed in excess of 7500kbps.

I have spent over 4 hours on the phone to BT who have : checked my phone socket, reset my BT router, accessed my pc to check the router, checked with BT wholesale ( who say that there is no problem with my line), and reset my ip profile, and put me on hold for ages, and being told that I will have to wait up to 7 days for things to get faster.

Does anybody have any ideas as to how to get through to a BT  complaints dept ?

I have identical problem for last two weeks.

BT said they would send me a new Hub which arrived but no difference.

They then said it was my PC that was faulty, it isnt, any PC I try on the Broadband link is the same.

I disconnected the "Fon" option which seemed to improve things but only for a few hours and then returned to same slow speed (Currently 228k).

They have said they will send an engineer but he isnt coming for 10 days.

I have also had problems with a web hosting package which I purchased last week.

After 4 nights struggling to load a web site I resorted to ringing BT for help.

The only serviice you get no matter which number you ring is always focused on telephone line faults.

My last attempt which took 50 minutes for an answer ended in India with the person on the other end teling me BT doesent have a department dealing in Web Hosting, I assured him they did. (Obviously again he only knew about telephone related problems).

I then resorted to sending an email asking to cancel my service which I am still waiting to hear anything about.

I also contacted my bank (Halifax) asking them not to pay BT for this service which had initially been ordered on my Debit Card. They said they could not as I had given BT authority to take payments from my account.

I am now at my witts end !!!!

I have a service which doesent work.

I want to cancel it.

No body is listening.

I cant stop paying for it as my bank wont let me!

Hello,

Sorry to read about the issues you are having with your services.

WhiteHart2011 - If you would like to cancel your service you can speak to the Cancellations Team who can arrange this for you. I would like to however point out, that service providers do not actually charge for speed, it is for the inclusive package.

chriswleeds - If you would like to also cancel your service you can click on the link above which will give you the Cancellations team's option. I apologise again for the issues you are having.

Thanks

Tracey
