Please BT Help, Im fed up with slow speeds all the time!

Hi BT,

My broadband business account has been with you for the past 4 years now and I havent really raised an issue with the speed I've always got around the 600kbps mark and never complained until now. My Bt modem ( 2wire 2700hgv) was down for about 4 weeks and would not sink at all, it tried to sink up but would not, we have had several engineers out to have a look at the problem eventually the 4th engineer got out there and fixed it which we were very happy for (at least it was back on) but my problem is now that Im suffering with very slow speeds, agreed the engineer told me to leave it for 10 days max to give it chance to stable but Every day my output power on the home hub page Broadband/settings/status is losing 0.1dbm which is decreasing my speed "Am I jumping the gun do you need to leave it longer for increase in speeds or have I left it long enough, 10 days?". At the moment it is around 14.3dbm, Im connecting at around 480kbps downstream and 448 upstream. I've tested the line on the bt tester page and it is saying a speed of 278kbps. Im not a happy bunny at all with these speeds you cannot even look at anything on you tube without it pausing every 2 seconds. Is there anything that can be done.

P.S.. Just to say we have tried everything my end and all the equipment is set up properly and is all working. Just thought I would tell you incase you say an engineer needs to come out to the property to look, 4 others have looked and the last engineer confirmed everything was in place and right in the house.

Thanks,

Stu. Reece

Hi reece71079,

Sorry to read about the problems you are having at the moment, I can see however that there has been a fault raised on your line and there has been an engineer dispatched to try and resolve the issue.

Hope this is of help.

Thanks

Tracey

Thanks for getting back to me BT.

I have gone ahead yesterday and turned my modem on and off, it has re-connected at 576kbps downstream and 448 upstream but I have tested the speed on speedtest.net and im getting 0.18mbps now, which is even slower than before, it is quite frustrating because youi carnt really use the internet at all at these speeds. I have had alot of trouble in the last month or so I just hope the engineer will fix the speed issue. I have even got a V10 ADSL socket fitted but thats not really helping my speed.

Can you please keep in touch with new developments and I will let you know if my speed has increased.

Speedtest.net latest, Download 0.27mbps Upload 0.38mbps.

Thanks,

Stu.

Hi reece71079,

I have checked the fault for you, I can see that the engineers have cleared the fault at the moment and the advisor that you spoke to has agreed for you to mointor the speeds of the connection.

Since the fault has been cleared, it can take a day or two for the speeds to increase.

Hope this helps

Tracey

Hi Tracy,

Thanks for keeping in touch, I've had the BT engineer ringing me and he has let me know hes monitoring the connection, I think he says its down to a long line but without sounding harsh thats not my fault, something should be done about it. I have done another speed test and im getting an even slower speed of 0.22mb/s down and 0.34mb/s up on speedtest.net, as you would probably understand from my side of things those sort of speeds are not good, its never been so bad as it is now, the internet pages load up really slow and you cannot use iplayer or you tube or even attempt to download any films, its not fun at all its like having a dial up connection again.

Something is wrong somewhere and needs fixing its very frustrating as these problems been going over into a few months now.

I thought I would give you a summary of my status on home hub page maybe this may shed a little light on things:-

Hi Bt,

A little update, I restarted my modem again at about 7.00a.m. this mourning and I've just had a look at the stats page home hub that is and my downstream is upto 736kbps upstream 448kbps so as you could imagine I was quite pleased. Ive done another test on speedtest.net but I have still got a reading of 0.27mb/s but I would believe that the speed would catch up in a few days time. My output power is also up to 15.0db.

I just hope it does not drop after a few days, anyway keep up the good work BT its all looking better from now. I would be happy with over 1000kbps, Im not one to be greedy.lol

Hi Tracy

Gone down now to 704kbps downstream, 448kbps upstream, Output Power down to 14.9db but Ive checked my speed again at speedtest.net but still only showing 0.27mb/s my throughput is no were near my downstream figures it just seems to sit at 0.27mb/s all the time and not increase. I've gone about downloading a large file cause back in the past I used to do this to increase my speeds, it seemed to help, I dont know why but did.

Also my Attenuation, Home Hub/Diagnostics/DSL/Training History has gone down to 71.5 so you must be doing something right.

Thanks

Hi reece71079,

Apologise you are still having issues, however I have noted in previous posted you keep rebooting your router.

By doing this the system is picking up that there has been a drop in the connection and this will decrease your speed. I would suggest not rebooting your router and leaving it powered on for a few days to see if you notice any change.

Also we only take speed test results from our own speed testing website.

Thanks

Tracey

Hi Tracy,

I've just took a test at bt speedtester and its now registering Downstream 704kbps upstream 448kbps, Throughput 500k, Download speed is 415kbps and IP profile of line is 500kbps.

I think its getting faster so I hope these stats will help you. Thanks for the work you are doing for me I appreciate it.

Regards,

Stu.
