Reporting phishing attempts

I came online today to report a phishing attempt. I am sure you can do this somewhere on the BTbusiness site but after 15 minutes looking I gave up. Please put clearly somewhere on your front page a link to the report phishing attempts. What was the attempt? Well, I tried to tell you but there was nobody home. (And by the way - why do I have to register for this site - we are already a 'signed in' selected group of your customers. Is that not good enough?)

I don't check mail on a Sunday, and I woke up this morning at 5.30am brewing a migraine after 2 weeks of being up until midnight or 1am-ish, so I am annoyed to have been caught out by having fallen for this one-off email.

 

We have amongst our family about 8 email accounts, all with BT, at least 5 of which show up on my smartphone.  Only one email like this appeared, and it appeared on my private, complexly addressed and hitherto spamless account.  I should have realised when the Smartphone said it was an over-18 page that required a creditcard registration.  But no, I put the laptop on, found the email, and clicked the link.  In my defense, I will say that it didn't help for me to know that you are implementing changes to your email system at the moment, and I assumed in my early-migraine, early-morning fog that this was part of them...   Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the built-in security with my browser.

 

And yes, echoing the other posters here, it wouldn't cost the look of your page anything for you to add the phrase "Security Issues" as a button to the last line of your home page, along with "Contact BT Sitemap Privacy Terms of use Codes of practice Complaints   Code T&Cs and Feedback "  It would, in fact, enhance customer satisfaction by making it easier to find.

Mutters softly to self as goes back to word processing skills learnt nearly 30 years ago on a processor that was writing HTML code before anyone had even heard of the internet... it was just called word processing.... the html behind the phish comes to 26,549 characters including spaces, and you only allow 20,000. So I'm going to have to change it's polished format a tad.... watch the next message....

I'm angry and fed up with receiving lots of phish mail pretending to be from BT, I have reported this several times to no avail.. The automatic replies from abuse@btinternet.com asking me to fill out a form looks like phish and goes into my spam folder automatically.... I recieve at least 3 of 4 emails from BT every day..telling me to confirm my account or loose the email address. I'm even getting email from BT Services Security Centre asking for personal details.  I don't know who to trust anymore - I found this BT Business Forum by accident.. I hope this is not a scam as well ??  I have spoken to lots of other people who have contracts with other suppliers and phish is much less of a problem... i'm considering cancelling my BT contract as it's becomming obvious that BT have lost the plot.

I have had a series of scam calls from a very persistent man with an indian accent. He claims to be one Charlie de Costa and calling from BT Tchnical Department who are reluctanly going to have to disconnect my internet because my compter is flooding their macchine with unwanted messages. He even had a telephone nmber 1428031992. He said that I could easily remedy my computer and he would show me how!

I did not believe a word of it but did quickly check with my broaband provider who confirmed that it was all rubbish. If anybody knows anything about this please telll them to leave me alone. I find that nuisance calls are so annoying we do not answer international or number witheld calls as a matter of principle - I feel sure that genuine callere, if indeed they do exist, will use the answerphone.

It seems that the spam emails are increasing, I have sent hundreds through to the phishing email address which keep reappearing in my inbox.

I have complained about this but still my spam filter does not pick these up, every day I receive spam mail and mark them as spam, but they still come.

Does the spam filter actually work??

I am probably not alone on this issue, anyone else having the same problems?

The number 02037988079 called Tuesday Morning declared they were technical from BT gained my confidence by listing slow internet useage then said they would turn off wifi for 3 days or if i went to my computer they could show me what to do to resolve the problem. At which point I ended the call. Recieved a further call this morning Wednesday 14th Sept at 9.08am but after saying from BT technical I hung up. Both had strong indian accents. As BT will know my phone number from my registered email and are in full control of the phone system perhaps they would be so kind as to close these latest numbers down.
