Hi.

I'm using Easysite Wizard Pro to build my website. When I try and submit my sitemap I'm getting an error from Google saying it's a html page. However.. all pages opened using ESW Pro are .html

does anybody know how I can get this sorted??

Cheers

Hi there,

Is this an option in site wizard pro?  I have never used the pro version so not sure.

Sitemaps are usually XML so maybe that's why it isnt working.

You could try http://www.xml-sitemaps.com instead.  Submit the site then upload the xml to the folder in the instructions.

Thanks

Thank you for the link.

I now have the site map in xml but how do I get it onto my website? Any new pages are automatically saved as html

cheers (in advance)

Hi there,

In the website center click the 'access ftp' link instead of beginning easy site wiz and this will log you directly into the folder your website is saved in.

Locate the folder where your index file is (in public I think) and drop the XML file in the same folder.

Then log into your google webmaster account and add the sitemap URL.

Thanks

thank you again, but I'm being a bit thick now.

I've opened the public folder as you suggested, but how do I drop the file into it?

If using FTP just drag across the file from one side to the other then as mentioned goto googles site and log into your account there and goto webmaster tools and add the sitemap url. Google will take about 24hrs to check it. If and error you can use this site to make sure its correct.

If you get stuck give a shout - I run a few sites one especially has over 300k indexes with 22 google sitemaps being re-built daily....lol

Thank you both for your help. I'm almost there but still not.

I now have my site map in xml and saved on my c drive.

I've been able to open the public folder and I tried to drag and dop the file into it. However I got a new page opened with the following message

"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

I then went back into the folderbut the site map wasn't there.

what am I not doing properly??
