Hi we have recently upgraded to Fibre with a new BT Business Smart Hub 3.
When I connect all our devices - a lot of them show up, some with device names but most with MAC addresses - I understand I have to use the App to change the names but I haven't got around to that.
However some devices don't show up at all - and as luck would have it, these are the devices that require port forwarding to be set and it can't be unless they are in the list. We are running about a dozen devices - 4 server ports, 7 PC Clients and 3 other devices. Some are using DHCP and some with static addresses. There doesn't seem to be a correlation except that it is the static ones that come up with MAC address. This was all working on our old Hub 2.
How can I fix this please?
Hi BHBS
Have you spoken to our technical team for this? Please contact them, you can find their details here.
I hadn't - but I have now and I get nowhere. All I find is an automated line test and some options which don't apply.
I do have an update to the problem though and, if anything, it gets worse.
If I change the affected devices to DHCP then they do appear in the list. But then, when I apply port forwarding to that device, it doesn't stick. Every time I go back to it there is nothing there. I have tried SAVE buttons at every stage and that makes no difference. Also, if I say "Always Use This Address" then it remembers that, but forgets the device name. Doing that doesn't help the port forwarding either.
I would prefer to have my old Super Hub 2 back - but perhaps that won't work at 500mbps!
Hi, can I double-check, Is the team still working on this for you or have the said there is nothing more they can do? Thank you.
They are still working on it - but not getting very far at the moment. I am in the process of documenting the problems with screen shots. I will come back here if there is any progress to report - or if they fail.
