Hello. I hope this is the correct forum for my question. I recently got bt broadband for a new house (not new built just new to me) and the router says to plug into a master socket. The issue is I do not have one. I have explored every inch of the property including the crawl spaces. My main bt line comes in goes to some junction box type thing then goes to one of two phone extensions. Can I just plug in to those with an adsl filter? Bts website is very ambiguously worded. Thanks in advance.
Hi yuktaondi
It sounds like one of those extensions is in fact the master socket, please see this guide here on the different types. Is this for a business or residential account?
Just try one of the sockets. It should work. The master socket is the better choice but only if you actually have one. The master socket normally has a removable face plate. It may not be labelled 'master socket'.
Look at some images on Google.
