BTCONNECT.COM email addresses being discontinued - what do I do now?

One of our emails addresses recently stopped working and I eventually managed to speak to someone (can't remember now if it was on the phone or over chat) and they told me that the btconnect.com server is being removed and so btconnect.com email addresses will cease to function in the near future. Subsequent to that I have had problems logging into my BT account, for which I use my btconnect email address as my user id, to which I was told on chat that I needed to get a new email address. Basically, we have a primary and two secondary email addresses and a huge amount of historical email data (had this email address for over 20 years), is there anything I can do to retain the email addresses or migrate them to another server (I'm not a tech whizz so need simple answers!)? Also, what happens to my Microsoft account which is linked to my btconnect email address? Help me please, someone, anyone!!!

What you should do: Since you mentioned you aren't a tech whizz, the safest option is to ask a tech-savvy friend, family member, or a local IT support technician to help you perform a "Mailbox Export" to a backup file (often called a .pst file if using Outlook). This saves a permanent, local copy of every single email, attachment, and folder you’ve ever had.

Gradually retiring older btconnect email services, so those addresses may stop working and can’t be reliably moved to another server as-is. The safest option is to create a new email (Gmail/Outlook), back up or export all old mail via Outlook/IMAP, and update your BT and Microsoft accounts to use the new address as the primary login.
