Around 2nd April one of my family btconnect email addresses started asking for a Microsoft login to open the mailbox in outlook. There is no associated MS account for this btconnect email but it has been running fine in outlook for years. Other family members with btconnect do have MS accounts, and they don't have the same issue in outlook.
I tried creating a new MS account in the btconnect mail to hope to link them, but MS doesn't accept it because it recognises the btconnect address as a work email.
We have 4 other btconnect email addresses (all were created under my old BT account) that are all linked to MS accounts and working fine - but this other one seems to have disappeared, losing valuable history.
Any suggestions from BT to help please?
i saw another thread where another user had similar issues around the same time.

How are you trying to access this btconnect mailbox? Basic authentication was removed for btconnect.com mailboxes a while ago so we don't support them in mail clients anymore

I am trying to connect in outlook for windows and outlook for iphone, which have both given access for years up until the start of April.
Both apps now ask for a microsoft login, where they haven't previously. There is no associated MS account for the email address.
