We have a BT Business Broadband FTTP line - with a Cloud Voice Express landline number used for incoming calls (outgoing on Vodafone mobiles as that's the cheaper option with the BT deal) - 4 Yealink phones on the landline
At irregular intervals we get issues with the landline :
1 Lots of static interference on calls - BT advised to reboot the digital line router when it happens
2 Incoming calls - outgoing voice can be heard but no incoming voice heard [rebooting seems to fix that too]
BT's support is less than helpful with no more than telling me to reboot the line router.
The landline gets very little use - but I'm especially annoyed as I missed selling a piece of furniture today as the purchaser couldn't speak to me yet he could hear me.
Given the apparent need to reboot the digital phone router from time to time I'm thinking of using a Tapo plug* programmed to switch the power to the phone router off and back on after, say, 15 minutes every night in the early hours so that it's always "fresh"
Is there any reason not to do that?
The main Broadband Router which came with the switch to FTTP in May 2024 seems to have very few issues - I think it's been rebooted three or four times to correct failures so far.
