We have had emails sent to us going missing recently....well more like never being received! The sender doesn't get an error message their end so assumes all is well
If however I get them to resend it to a different bt.connect.com account this seems to work. As a business our company email address is advertised so I cannot afford to loose emails in this way
HELP?....ANSWERS?.....SUGGESTIONS?.....WHY?..... I can give examples of addresses where emaisl have been sent that have never been delivered
Come on BT tech guys...answer and solve this please ASAP!!!
Tom
Hi Fiona
I see now that you can only see these PM messages within the forum system, I thought you meant you'd sent an email - I apoligise
Am waiting for chat...
OK fingers crossed resolved now.I think it helped using the chat (only 20 minutes wait!) and pasting in your response, Fiona, it seemed a better (more intelligent) conversation than on the phones.Iain confirmed the issue and deleted the domain relay within the BT systemafter this it still didn't work, but now after 4 hours it does, so hopefully this will be the end of this. This works for us because we host email elsewhere and also will not be using BT smtp either. If you are in this situation then do NOT add your domain as a relay in the BT settings, it will cause this issue.
It seems that we have a similar problem, though we do not have (AFAIK) our mail or domain hosted elsewhere.
Apparently (only because our customers tell us so) some emails to some addresses work, others fail with the message :
Final-Recipient: RFC822; user@ourbthosteddomain.co.uk Action: failed Status: 5.1.1 Remote-MTA: DNS; smtpin.btconnect.com Diagnostic-Code: SMTP; 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for user@ourbthosteddomain.co.uk
I have no idea what the problem is but it a) seems to be with BT and b) needs a solution
As it seems to be a known problem, do I really have to go through 27 layers of inane questions before I get to someone bright enough to know how to resolve it or is there a d/l to somone that I can use ???
Any help gratefully appreciated.
We welcome constructive postings in these parts of the forum, I believe yours belongs in the Feedback section, Easybourne. Thank you very much for your comments.
If your domain name is listed for mail relay and you still get "550" errors, the chances are, you are not using outgoing authentication. The details you'd generally use are the first part of the primary @btconnect.com e-mail address, along with the password. Much will depend on exactly what mail program you use.
We expect postings in this section to offer solutions. Blanket criticism is not unwelcome, it simply belongs in the Feedback section.
We are also getting this issue with a client. They are unable to send messages to us from their btconnect accounts. Messages bounce back to them with the same relay error message as has been previously posted in this thread.
We have always been able to receive emails from this client, up until January 2013.
We have recently had our mail, hosted with BT, upgraded to the Office365 system, back in October.
They have not and are still using the old mail.btconnect.com or smtp.btconnect.com - I'm not sure which...
This is obviously a known issue but I don't understand why there is no published solution?
Like sooooo many others, I am unable to relay mail to one of my allias accounts . This mail cannot receive mail from anyone else using the same BT SMTP server . It is quite incredible that this is not resolved yet , because it is so detrimental to peoples businesses
Other than waiting half an hour on the helpline or in chat, is there a solution yet ?
Hi SteveLaird,

I havent received any PM Messages (not sure how they get to me !)
I had a chat seesion with Alister earlier but lost the line (and the pop settings he gave me) . He suggested that this was a problem related to the 365 transfer , but it worked for months after the migration and I'm sure I have the correct Pop settings for incomeing and outgoing mailserver . I'm not sure if the transcripts are accessible ?
